Step 5. Numbering and dimensioning.
Ventpack allows assigning of number to each FDBES object, which is displayed
in the list of elements. After selecting the command "numbering and dimensioning"
(Figure 5.), the program begins numbering the installation starting from the
currently selected element, marking it as number "1". The designer then selects
the next element for which Ventpack proposes the number "2"; clicking the right
mouse button confirms the number and automatically continues to the following element.
The proposed number can be changed and the next element selected at will.

Ventpack remembers the sequence of numbering and therefore no repeated numbering
is necessary if changes are made to the installation. It is enough to select the "renumerate"
command, and all elements are automatically renumbered so that "empty" numbers that
appear as a result of deleting elements from the drawing are removed.
Once the project is completed and delivered, the "renumerate" function can be locked.
Afterwards, modifications introduced to the drawing will not cause the numbering
of existing elements to change: "empty" numbers will remain, and new elements that
would get an existing number will be assigned the first available or an alternate
alphanumeric number, such as "N1-13b". This function is practical when the project
has already been printed, but the installation is changed and the user wants to print
it again, marking newly added elements by this new format.
When creating a cross-section using the "cross-sectioning" command, the resulting
elements are automatically excluded from the specification and receive the same
numbers that were given to the original elements.
Elements placed on the drawing may also be dimensioned. It is possible to place
information near and on the flanges of each element, indicating width and height
(i.e. "a x b") as well as length ("l"). Dimensioning is done automatically -
the element from which we want to start dimensioning should be selected, and
afterwards the program passes from element to element; the designer must only
indicate the place where the dimensions should be inserted.
The next step is to insert information frames on the drawing near each element.
The content of these frames depends on the type of element and may contain,
among others: type, producer, dimensions, flow capacity, air velocity, total
pressure loss and, for ending elements, pressure reduction.
Ventpack also places arrows indicating airflow direction, above which the flow
quantity is displayed in m3/h. These arrows and labels are placed next to ending
elements as well (near inlet and outlet points). It is also possible to enable and
disable this function in the "System Properties" window.
Dimension, numbering and arrow style, colors, layers, line type, text style and
other settings are defined separately for each specific system. Different styles
and parameters can be used for intake and exhaust systems - these are defined in
the "System Properties" dialog box and can be modified at any stage of the design process.
In case there is a need to plot drawings in different scales, an option is available
to replace all numbers, dimensions and labels that were inserted on the installation
with those having different text height and scale settings. This modification may
also be done on a new layer, so that old labels are kept and may be hidden,
allowing the drawing to be plotted on different scales without repeated labeling.
