Step 3. General and manufacturer libraries.
The selection window for each element category contains tabs for the general library
and for specific producers (Figure 7.).

Figure 3. An example of the selection window.
Elements in the general library do not assume any predetermined range of dimensions and accessories,
their properties can be freely defined by the designer. When selecting an element from the library
(e.g. ventilation grill, circular diffuser, fire damper, etc.), the designer can specify its
parameters such as width, height, color, finishing, material, control type, second row of guide vanes,
choke valve, etc. The specified parameters are assigned and included in the list of elements.
The manufacturer libraries are much more detailed, they contain all data to uniquely identify
each piece of equipment. Ventpack does not permit the designer to specify parameters
which are not in agreement with the range of sizes and options provided by the producer,
guaranteeing that all equipment inserted into the drawing can be manufactured.
Element libraries can be updated regularly, for example via the Internet.
In the "Element Properties" dialog box (Figure 6.), the designer also has easy
access to the complete catalog and pricelist for each element in electronic form
(provided by the manufacturer), so that in-depth information about each product
can be obtained at the click of a button. The dialog box also displays detailed
2D and 3D drawings as well as photos of each element.
Certain elements in the libraries have special roles, such as ventilators and ending elements.
Ending elements have only one connector, and are intended for air exhaust
or supply - diffusers and grilles, diffusers and grilles with boxes and other
intake and outlet elements belong to this category. If the designer terminates
a system with an element other than a grille or diffuser, such as a duct or elbow,
then this element automatically assumes the properties of an ending element.
This enables hydraulic calculations to be performed for special installation situations:
for example, when air intake or discharge is channeled through the space of the
suspended ceiling. Ventilators in Ventpack are elements that connect supply
installations with air intakes and exhaust installation with outlet systems.
